Khalil Anthony in The Baldwin

The Baldwin Boot was designed out of inspiration from James Baldwin’s cool, calm demeanor and style.  A pioneer in gay rights and literature, Baldwin openly spoke about sexuality. Ahead of his time, he argued that sexuality was fluid and should not be divided by strict categories.

In honor of Pride, last month, we wanted to celebrate James Baldwin and his contributions to the gay rights movement. Baldwin passed away in December 1987 at age 63.

We had the pleasure of meeting up with Khalil Anthony (@beingkhalilanthony), polymath and artist from Chicago, in Sta Maria La Ribera, CDMX for a photo session in the Baldwin Boot. Anthony is someone for us who channels James Baldwin’s energy and spirit through his work and existence. He took the time to answer some questions for us on his relationship with the Baldwins.
